I was born in the East End of London. When I left school I desperatly wanted to be a midwife, then I realised that would probably involve a lot of blood! I hated school so much that the prospect of going on to further education horrified me, so instead I went and got a job in the city. Aftr six years of working hard and playing hard I gave it all up for a more sedate life in the floral design industry.
I decided to start writing after friends told me 'very odd things happen to you'! If they were that odd, maybe people would like to read about them? That remains to be seen.

This is a new Blog so keep an eye on it as I will be adding to it constantly

I did it!!!

I did it!!!!

It's been two months since I sat down and shared my publishing journey with you. And how things have changed! I finally got a reply from the publisher who went on about how it wasn't a book she would usually deal with, which confused me. But the long and the short of it was that they weren't interested. I felt a little disappointed as I didn't feel that they gave me any useful tips to make my book more interesting, or whatever it was they wanted it to be. So, there I was, feeling very sorry for myself, why someone a friend of mine knows emailed me about a company in America called LULU. Of course I liked the name, which was a good start. Then I visited their website www.lulu.com and it was like letting a child loose in a sweetshop!!! No payments up front, which is always helpful. No guidelines, as such. Which is positive. Of course it did mean I had to get it edited, again and again!! But was that a small price to pay for getting my book published? Oh yes it was. I am now a published author. My book can be purchased from a website. I can share my story's (am half way through book number two), with other like minded people. That is the ultimate goal once you have written a book. To get it out there, so that other people can read it.
So two things really;
Firstly, if you have a work in progress or a work which is constantly being sent back from publishers. Do something positive about it. DO IT YOURSELF. It's hard work and it can be a bit confusing at times, but the sense of achievement at the end of it, is overwhelming.
Secondly, Look up www.lulu.com. Its a brilliant website full of helpful and interesting facts and brilliant authors who did for themselves.

Please let me know if you get to publish a book/cd/dvd/calender with lulu

Another novel is born!!

So, where am I at?
Not quiet sure really.
Have tried to contact publisher but she must be on holiday - lucky thing.
Anyway, I have a predicament. I haven't had an answer about the first book, yet I've started the second. It's a very different story, still with a pyschic influence and follows on nicely from the first book. But why am I doing it?
It's therapy. Purely, simply, therapy.
I've been taking a good, hard look at my life just recently and I have to say it's been quite odd really.
Lots of drama, & I do mean drama.
I mean I was born into drama, suffering from a rare blood disorder, but I battled through!
See, it's a drama.
Everything I do is a drama!
I find it quite draining really, yet other people seem facinated by the drama's that are my life and that is why the second book is in it's infancy.
And guess what? The third's lined up, although that's slightly different, it's already there, waiting in the wings.
Maybe, just maybe, i'm over sensative.
Maybe I should be enjoying all this drama in my life?
But if I did that, I might not have the urge to write about it, and that may turn out to be tragedy, who knows?

How People Respond!

It's really weird. I've written the book, sent it out in the hope that publishers will want it, yet I hadn't bargained for how strongly I would feel about people's opinions.
You need feedback. That's the whole point of getting people to read it.
But it's just that point when you hand it over to them, something really strange happens.
Suddenly you become very defensive, almost protective of this pile of paper.
It's like handing your baby over to someone you've never met before.
It's very odd.'Take a deep breath' I keep telling myself.
But what is even stranger is once that initial 'passing over' of the paper's done, something else just as bizarre happens.
You need answer's now!
Not in a week or a few weeks, now!.
You expect these poor people to stop everything they're doing in their lives, to read your ten chapters and give you the answer's you're looking for, NOW!
How unfair is that. It's kind of people to take the time to read it, making demands of them is just unacceptable. So you wait and then it happens.
Feedback.
Then you're not sure you want it!
Realistically you only want to hear them telling you 'it's just fantastic'. What do you do if they tell you it's a pile of rubbish. Smile and thank them?
And so the feedback is coming in, and. . . . .it wasn't quiet what i'd expected if I'm totally honest.
Apparently it's very compelling, they all need more than just the first ten chapters, and they need it NOW!
I'm chuffed, truely chuffed, that people think it's a really good read. Of course I think it's a brilliant book,
but I would, I wrote it!

Book Blurb

Tarot cards where just little cards
with pretty pictures on,
weren't they?

All Chloe really wanted was to be swept off her feet
by a tall dark handsome man.
In the past, every relationship she had,
had left her hurt and disappointed.
Then Mal appeared in her life
and suddenly she was swept away.

But this relationship was no  ordinary relationship,
there were unseen forces at work
that would make her look at this relationship
in a way she had never thought to do before.

Relative Messages is the story of Chloe
and her feelings for a man who is worlds apart from her and an overwhelming concern for a man
who would never be completly honest with her
until it was too late.

A story of intreague, fear, sadness and murder.

All Chloe ever wanted was to be happy,
but happiness wasn't really what she got!

Book review.

An intreaguing read! The question is, would Chloe have the nearve to find out the truth, if she does, what will the outcome be? Who would believe that such messages would send her on the journey she takes. Couldn't wait to find out what happened next and where it would all lead her too.  Great read! J.W

Relative messages - book review.

Ever felt that you've been in the same situation as someone else, well, this book will certainly keep you reading until you get to the end. It is a book that you can relate to. You understand what Chloe is feeling. It's full of things you think, but never say out loud!. A truely recognisable story. Brilliant to say the least. S.B

Book Review - Relative Messages

Without giving  too much away I couldn't put this book down once I started. Throughout the reading of it I felt like I could relate to the  things happening in the life of Cloe. Its a great read for more than one type of person. Not normally a book I personally would pick up to read, I found the hardest part was putting it down until I had found out the outcome of this three way saga. The mystic side really got me intrigued and I wanted to know how much Linda really knew. A really great read that I would reccommend to all my friends. It kept me wanting to turn the pages just to see if the ending was what I expected. I won't say if it was the ending I expected, but it was a great fininsh to the first and hopefully not the last novel by Emma.  Please do another one there's more to find out. Thanks for a great and  unusual read that kept me wanting more. A.B

Isn't Life Odd!

Isn't life odd.

We all go through bad time's in our lives. Times when we aren't sure what the outcome will be. In my life there have been awful times, mad times and just damn right confusing times. Up until recently i've just plodded through them, hoping for the best.

Three years ago, friends persuaded me it would be a good idea to write about the 'odd' events in my life, well, just a specific set of very odd events that had happened to me. That's when Relative Messages was born. After three attempts and three years it's finally done.

So where do I go from here?
Writing the book was fun, exciting, frustrating and theraputic. Getting it published is just confusing. Do I get an agent? What do you look for in an agent? Would an agent want what i've written?
I have invested in a copy of The Writers Handbook, and boy, was that an eye opener.
By all accounts getting your first book published is a minefield.
Sending it off to a publishing house is an option, but, it's highly unlikely that they will have the time to look at it.
Why? because they are inundated. It's that simple.
But that's not a problem really, get an agent. But that is a problem. Who would be a good agent? Million Dollar question I think!. Who do you send it too, will they be interested, how do you go about it, so that you catch their attention??
Questions, questions, questions!
Of course if you know someone who has had a book published, that apparently is good way to get an intorduction into a publishing house or literary agency.
How many people, actually know someone who's had a book published?
Now there's a thing. I do. A few years back my uncle had a book published. Why didn't I think of that sooner? (Probably so many options and questions spinning around my head, the obvious didn't have any room to get in there!).
And after a visit one weekend I am in touch with a publisher. (Direct line and all).
A lovely lady, with a soft Irish accent (at least I think it's Irish), seemed very interested in my idea and asked me to send it to her so she could read it.
WOW, I am so excited I can't tell you. But once the excitment wear's off there's an even bigger question than all the other's put together. Now what?
Who know's. It's been 7 whole days since I sent it to her. No email to acknowledge she has received it. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I did email to ask whether she had received it and am going on the basis that no news is good news!! Of course I live in the real world. First time authors are a risk and realistically she probably won't want to take a risk, will she? Who know's. At the moment I have sent out the first five chapters to ten people to get their objective opinions. So watch this space for their feedback.
